Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and mission-driven Senor Software Engineer with practical experience developing software in C# on Unity for a HoloLens 2 AR headset to design, develop and enhance a cutting-edge training application for the Healthcare Industry. This role combines creative Unity game development with Augmented Reality (AR) to build practical, scenario-based training for medical technicians. You will work closely with medical training experts, 3D artists, and other software engineers to create interactive applications to train surgical sterilization skills in a medical environment.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Orlando based position, in office with no remote work.

Eligibility to obtain a Secret-level security clearance is required.
   
 

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of Unity applications with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Build and code engaging training applications using Unity game development software.
  • Work with medical experts to ensure that applications align with medical training objectives and offer practical, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Develop unique interactive features that can handle real-time decision-making, response adaptability, and feedback mechanisms for a comprehensive learning experience.
  • Conduct usability testing with end-users, analyze feedback, and iterate to enhance the training value of applications.
  • Participate in client meetings, gathering requirements and offering technical insights.
  • Diagnose and fix issues in our applications.
  • Contribute technical insight to product and customer experience discussions.
  • Ensure that functionality is implemented in alignment with company vision and customer needs.
The project encompasses 6 key area enhancements to an existing prototype medical trainer that will focus on implementing core technical features and backend architecture.  Task may include but are not limited to:

Core Functionality:
  • interactive elements like persistent active windows.
  • Brief tutorial videos to include touch/voice activation for ease of use.
  • Development of a virtual toggle-based system for contrast adjustments
  • Enable cross-device functionality with biometric recognition.

Preparation Module Enhancements:
  • Integrate barcode scanning
  • Incorporate essential inspection points
  • Develop cross-referencing capabilities
  • Provide surgical instrument information and a timer feature showing the average assembly time for similar trays
  • Optimize workflow efficiency and usability

Training Module Expansion:
  • Develop video library that categorizes instrument types and equipment-specific training
  • Develop On-demand guidance for technicians

Education Module:
  • Enhance easy access to IFUs professional development, SOPs, competency testing, certifications and continuing education resources.

Camera Feed and Magnifier Modules:
  • Upgrade system with live update and real-time navigation
  • Add a virtual focus slider and memory feature for recently viewed items
Add situational awareness capability

Remote Feature Module:
  • Develop active Dynamic 360 Remote Assistance for real-time collaboration
  • Incorporate intuitive voice commands and eye tracking

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in game design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Unity development, with a history of completed projects.
  • Solid understanding of Unity and C# with a proven record of AR/VR/XR solutions.
  • Experience in C/C++ on Windows and Linux preferred, for future projects.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or educational technology industry.
  • Previous experience working with new technologies in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to optimize and support software for a range of devices and platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates should demonstrate humility and a collaborative mindset, with a willingness to assist teammates, ask questions, and openly receive help and feedback.

Essential Mental Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for documentation, intra-team, and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Attention to detail in written products and work performed.
  • Excellent computer skills including troubleshooting of hardware and software (i.e. reading logs, identifying conflicts between pieces of software, basic operating system operation administration).
  • Ability to solve problems by analyzing and thinking critically about a problem.

Equipment/Software/Tools Used

  • Unity editor, Microsoft C#, MRTK 3
  • HoloLens2 experience or another AR/XR device
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and animation tools.
  • Experience with cloud-based services and backend integrations.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles.
  • Agile/Scrum development experience.
  • Computer, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Basic computer operating system (Linux, Windows) skills and administration.
  • Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) experience required.
  • Microsoft Project experience is preferred.
  • Issue tracking and information sharing application (JIRA, Confluence, etc) experience preferred.
